Toshiba

Making a POS terminal sexy

The project brief and our approach

With a bold new product hitting the market soon, Toshiba needed a creative 3D animated video that was just as bold, could highlight the beauty and key features of their product, and could hit the internet before release to drive interest (...and sales). How meta, creating sales for the thing that tracks your sales.

When a product is just too damn cool, it’s hard to not show it off. The Toshiba TCx 800 was one of those products.

Gearing up for the launch of their new point-of-sale terminal, Toshiba needed to get people’s attention with an eye-catching video in a sensory overloaded setting—an upcoming trade show. And the people whose attention we needed to grab? They’re not just any people. They’re people who make the big decisions like “which POS terminal are we going to order for thousands of our stores all over the country?”

Making a video that has to do triple duty as a trade show video, a product explainer video, and a marketing tool that gets people to stop in their tracks?

No pressure.

But when you have a product as bold and slick as the TCx 800, it made our job that much easier.

Planned and produced entirely in-house, our animation studio developed a video concept that had no distractions. This hot product needed no fluff. Showing off the product with stunning 2D animation and 3D animation, this piece lets the viewer get up close and personal with the TCx 800. We wanted our viewers to get to know this device so well that the only way they could possibly know more about it was if they went out and touched one.
